Energy transition

From in-depth expertise to a shared perspective

The energy transition has many uncertainties, scenarios and different perspectives of stakeholders. How do we create an overview and develop a future-oriented vision together that really gives direction to the energy system of 2050?

The social challenge

Fragmentation and lack of a shared vision of the future

The energy transition produces numerous reports, recommendations and scenarios. Governments, companies and social organisations have different priorities and assumptions. As a result, a shared vision of the future and clarity about the choices to be made are lacking. A shared compass towards 2050 is needed to enable concrete policy choices, investments and cooperation.

The KEMs

Through co-creation towards a shared vision of the future

In a visual approach, ten experts worked on tangible future images through co-creation. By making abstract and complex scenarios visible, space was created in which differences and similarities could be discussed directly. In various phases, we went from fragmented knowledge to joint choices. By subsequently validating the images with the target group, it became clear whether the message came across clearly and whether they could get to work with it. The result: a series of visualisations that offer policymakers and stakeholders something to hold on to towards 2050.

The result

One shared vision of the future as a compass

The visualisations made a future vision of the complex energy transition tangible and palpable. This created involvement. The drawings were concrete enough to make the shared story clear, and abstract enough for experts to work with from their own expertise. The result is an overarching framework that provides direction for detailed advice and strategic decision-making. It continues to inspire and connect experts and stakeholders towards 2050.
